Even though I mostly enjoy classic folk and rock, I'm open to other genres as well, though I must admit that heavy metal often makes me just restless and irritated. So, as I already stated, I'm interested in Japanese-language music that would have different and artistically ambitious lyrics in the style of aforementioned Dylan, Cohen, Bowie and Paul Simon.

Mostly I just listen to J-Pop though since I watch a lot of anime, but they rarely leave an impact with artistically ambitious lyrics (or music). The only Japanese artist I've listened more and whose lyrics seem like what I'm looking for is Spitz, whose songs I really like, especially みなと and 夜をかける.

I'm sure that Japan is full of these talents as well, I just haven't heard them yet. As a Finn I know this since in my opinion Finland is full of talented and great singer-songwriters who are totally on the same level than Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen or David Bowie. I often think how many great songwriters the world is full of, yet nobody knows about them because they write in their own languages. As I'm both a learner of Japanese and a fan of good songwriting, I'd like to combine these passions of mine. So, as the title suggests, I'm looking for Japanese music, preferably rock, pop and folk (but I'm open to other genres as well) with good lyrics.
